Your wedding invitations set the tone for your wedding day. They cue your guests into the type of day your are planning, get them excited for it, help them figure out how to dress and so much more.
Whether you realize it or not, there are a lot of things to know about wedding invitations. An experienced stationer not only has the skills and experience to create beautiful designs but they can also help make sure the proper wording and etiquette are used-Just because you found a picture online of a particular wording, doesn’t mean it’s right for you or should be used on your invitations. A stationer will ensure the best paper options are used, the best envelopes are selected, they will discuss different printing methods with you and will make sure they are printed by a quality printer. Often times, couples try to take on this task themselves only to regret it later, they don't realize the time and skill that is involved. Designing your own invite on programs like Canva, will look like an invite designed on Canva, enough said. You can buy a design online, for a few bucks, but beware when you need to print it. Many stationery quality papers are too thick to be printed on a home printer and many copy shops like Kinkos or Staples have very limited options when it comes to paper. Card stock off the shelf is not generally stationery quality paper and can make your invitations look and feel cheap. Have you ever tried printing envelopes at home? The struggle is real! Online printers don’t give you many paper options either. They also often times specialize in business cards and brochures so they don’t have the artistic quality that wedding invitations usually have. You might think using Minted or other online stationery companies are the answer, think again. While I'm sure some of the time they work great for some needs, but please know you are not working with a human. They are not proofing for you–I've received 2 invitations with issues in the past 2 years, one wedding invite was missing the date, yes, THE DATE! Another had the wrong address! I have read about many other mishaps, you may think, I know how to proof–and you do, but sometimes when you are too busy or not accustomed to what to look for, you too may end up in a similar situation. And–your info is different from the sample info, if your info doesn't fit perfectly into the template, it won't look right, trust me...again, the automated service doesn't know when the type gets too small, or isn't centered properly, or gets too close to the edge and so on. Lastly, often times you don't end up saving any money once you add up all the items, so be sure you compare pricing. Your wedding will be one of the biggest and best events of your life...avoid the stress, guesswork and mishaps! Sit back, relax and let an experienced stationer work one on one with you and create your beautiful and memorable invitations! |
